Daffy was always my favourite WB character. However - and I hope I don't get too much flak for for this - I can't admit to being a big WB fan overall, which is practically heritical. To me their theatrical shorts have this going for them: great characterisations, the best voice actor in the business, and impeccable direction and comic timing.
With its parodic wild west setting, Dripalong is one of the more memorable Warner shorts featuring Daffy, though probably not the best. It tends to fall into the A versus B formula which WB practically defined, but it pulls it off with enough aplomb, panache, and other French words, that you can't help but like it rather a lot. A lot of that aplomb, etc, comes from the perfect comic timing of Chuck Jones, because if you strip it down, the basic story is nothing to write home about. It's just pulled off so pefectly. The way the villain is totally rigid from the waist up when he walks (and 4/5 of him is above the waist)... little things like that. Above average WB, though there are even better ones out there.
