This is a rather disappointing Merrie Melodies. A little over-crammed with major characters (Sylvester, Foghorn, Henery Hawk and Barnyard Dog), nothing seems quite properly worked out. Sylvester sneaks on to the farm and gets into a battle with the Dog, while Foghorn tries to cope with Henery, who thinks he's a chicken. Foghorn convinces him that Sylvester is actually a chicken. Meanwhile the Dog turns up and becomes a suspect as well. The voices don't seem right. Foghorn doesn't quite sound like Foghorn, Henery (when you can't see him) sounds like Bugs Bunny, and Sylvester is atypically violent.

The end-play is that everyone has to sit around waiting for the sun to come up, because Henery cleverly notes that roosters have to crow at dawn. This isn't a bad wind-up, but on the whole the cartoon is nothing really special and doesn't quite seem to hang together properly. Not awful, but nothing special.
