KF Animation Editor | An unusual cartoon, even for Disney, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers has a weird artistic style and an even weirder sense of humor. Its wacky brand of left field humor and gross out jokes is certainly not to everyone's liking, and the commercials make it look like another Teacher's Pet. However, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers is a high caliber buddy show with a twisted sense of humor. Even though the two lead characters want to escape the Amazon and go back home, they usually don't put that much effort into finding a way out. More often than not, they get into sticky situations and drive each other, and the other denizens of the forest, completely nuts, with most of the things that go wrong happening because of Brandy's self-centered ways. This makes the show seem a tad repetitive because this theme comprises the bulk of the episodes. However, on the whole, this cartoon is satisfying, thanks to its excellent sense of timing. Brandy is cute despite her self-centered attitude and has her good moments. And Mr. Whiskers, even with his goofy ways, has the remarkable ability of sounding both eloquent and completely nuts. Don't let the look of the cartoon turn you off. This is good stuff. |
