This lost jewel of anime reminded for some years as a cult series between some small circles of anime fanatics. The reasons are diverse, why you can love the series or hate it is equally disputable.

The first time I saw it, it reminded me a lot of those classic series that came to America in the 80's and 90's. The first couple of episodes had all the elements of these over-hyped movies and series: extreme violence, a need of showing gruesome imaginary and nudity (that's right, this is full of fan service), at the same time becomes a complex mix of sci-fi, japanese mitology and fantasy action.

It is highy possible that after the first episodes either you hook with the series or dispose it like trash. Still, my best reccomendation is to patiently wait and let the series fully develop, this is the reason why I'm giving it 3 stars: after probably the first quarter of the series, not only the story starts to gel, but actually the characters developed to an amazing rate, making them believable and having interesting personalities.

If you make for this, the result is a unique series: the story darkers in tone and a surprising twist in the last chapters makes for an impressive and emotive conclusion. So good actually, that even after so many years it's still my favorite ending in an anime and haven't seen anything that gets close in comparison.
