Fans of the television series will find this chapter of Babar to contain a bit more adventure and peril for our favourite elephant. The film has a bit of "Indiana Jones" flair to it and the plot stretches logic and believability a bit in some places--like the bloody-thirsty Rataxes in the film can't be the same sneaky but incompetant Rataxes that appears in the TV series? Anyways, overall its an exciting, fun romp into Babar's world.
The animation style looks a great deal like the animation of the TV series--which, I assume, is based on the pictures in the original books--although the film adds a bit more light and shadow to fill up the "big screen."
Musical numbers are short but catchy. Anyone who's ever worked in an office will likely appreciate the "Committee" song and Zephyr doing the Michael Jackson moonwalk in "Monkey Business" was pretty amusing.
