It is awsome the animation is great, the story and character development is well plotted there really isn't anything wrong with this masterpiece. The only think that I can say is that the schedule on nick is kinda hard to get used to and the ran alot of reruns for a while but besides that it is definetly something you should own because it is for everyone, kids, adults or anime geeks like me :) |

posted: Jan 19, 2006 Rated it: | newbie | I'm obbessed with Avatar: The Last Airbender, as all my friends say. It was really good from the beginning of the 1st season to the end of the 1st season. I love the show, because it's about friends, adventure and different places. I would recomend this to people who love adventure, friendship, different places, and people who can bend the elemnents (Water, Earth, Fire, Air). |

posted: Jan 18, 2006 Rated it: | newbie | It's awesome! Avatar is one of the best shows I've seen. Avatar is my second favorite show( Spongebob being my first) Though the first episode I saw was the storm, I still think the show was a big hit. There is some romance in it( which is kind of Gross.) I really want the DVD. I have ADHD. A bunch of my friends enjoy the show too. It's really quite unusual, as for the first episode, the beginning was a little different. I like that the movies were in parts. And it had season finales. Usually shows just go to the other season without making a big deal about it, but this one had a finale, so it'll make you excited for the next season. People are already looking forward to the next season coming out, and I can't wait for it to come out too. I hope to win!! |

posted: Jan 13, 2006 Rated it: | newbie | This show is probably one of my very favorites. It's about how one person can change the world and making peace during difficult times in war. This show is rich in culture and I love all the character's personalities, from Aang's playful nature to Zuko's fiery temper. The show has plenty of comedic scenes and best of all, this show is "clean" and absolutely no inappropriate themes! The violence in this show is very mild, with no blood, another thing I like about this show! Anyway, I love how the show's fighting scenes are so well put together and how the drawings bring out the real intensity from the martial arts to the show. Overall, it's exciting, funny, appropriate for most general audiences, unique to its own style, and this epic adventure story really brings out the wonders of the deepest fantasies. |

posted: Jan 10, 2006 Rated it: | World-Class Animation Critic | Finally, Nickelodeon has done it. They've finally started showing a show that is well-animated, has an exciting storyline, a plethora of interesting characters, and just some really great stuff that's all put together really well. I had just started watching it during the fall and I fell in love with it. The anime style of art is perfect for the show (with all of its oriental style), even though it is an American creation. The voices are excellent, and they really help express the feelings of the characters by voice. Plus all the characters are interesting: the good, the bad, and the ones that could go either way. The whole adventure is just wonderful to watch as different situations act as roadblocks on the journey. And did I mention the martial arts moves used with the different types of bending? Awesome. But in my opinion, this doesn't look like something that would be on Nick though. It seems more like a Cartoon Network sort of thing. I'm surprised by the quality and beauty that the entire show has to offer. It makes me want cable right now, actually. Overall, Avatar: The Last Airbender is an amazing show that renews my faith with cartoons on Nickelodeon. This is a definite "must-see" show. Even if you don't care for the anime style of animation, give it a try! You won't regret it! Three point five stars here. |

posted: Jan 08, 2006 Rated it: | newbie | On February 2005 Nick showed a one hour showing of its newest show, Avatar: The Last Airbender, this show was based on Japanese animation and Asian mythology. The show's age group was originally thought to be between ages 6-12, but the show attracted more teenagers then pre teens and the saga called The Avatar was born. The show is about an airbender called Aang who was frozen in an iceberg for 100 years. In the 100 years of his disappearance the "Fire Nation" declared war on the other three major nations existing at the time, the Earth Nation, The Water Tribe, and the Air Nomads. Each nation is based on the 4 main elements, Earth, Fire, Water, and Air in which a descendent of each nation could bend what ever element he/she could. For example if you were born in the Fire Nation and if you were a direct descendent of fire benders, then you could bend fire. The purpose of the Avatar is to keep balance between the 4 main nations and the world, so in able to keep up with this hard task he/she had the potential to master all of the 4 elements. It is unknown why the Fire Nation declared war on the other nations, but shortly before the war the 12 year old Aang suddenly disappeared from that earth and the balance of the world was gone. After 100 years of war two siblings from the decedent Southern Water Tribe, Katara and Sokka, found Aang in the iceberg, they concluded that in able for Aang to master all the elements he would have to go to the Northern Water Tribe to find a teacher to teach Aang water bending. There will be obstacles in the way such as the anti hero Prince Zuko and his uncle General Iroh, Zuko is determined to find the Avatar at any cost, even if it means his life. I won't spoil the main plot for you, but the show is possibly one of the best cartoon shows in any channel. The fight scenes are amazingly detailed and you can tell that the producers have gone to a great length to satisfy the needs of their viewers. The show isn't perfect though some of the dialog is cheesy, a few episodes are just a waste of time to watch, and can get very predictable. There are some positive things to the show as well such as its appeal to teens and even adults due to its symbolism and deep intellect some episodes show, the foreshadowing and the action scenes make the show appealing to older and younger audiences. For the younger viewers there is a young hero who is destined to save the world, for the older viewers there is Asian myths and morals. Overall the show Avatar: The Last Airbender can show us that any cartoon can become popular and have a huge fan base. In the United States season one just ended around a month ago while the 2nd half the first season is still being shown in Europe, but to our surprise season 2 is already under way. A prod-verb says that those who wait will get great things in return, and for those who wait for the 2nd season of Avatar we will get great things from Nick. |

posted: Jan 08, 2006 Rated it: | newbie | Avatar: The Last Airbender is an amazing show that Nickelodeon aired January 2005. The second season, Book II, is aring early 2006. It was Nick's first anime-style show, although there is debate whether Avatar is "real anime." However many of the show's cult follwers say, who cares whether it's anime or not? It's awesome either way! The show is set in an alternate world with an ancient Asian culture. The Avatar is the keeper of peace between the nations, reincarnated into each generation. The nations, each with unique cultures of their own, are the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. Within each nations are a brand of warriors called benders, who "bend" the elements to their will. Only the Avatar can bend all four elements. But the Avatar disappeared 100 years ago. Siezing the opportunity, the Fire Nation waged war on the other three nations. Now, the Air Nomads are wiped out and the Fire Nation has almost won. However there is still hope: the Avatar is found by two Water Tribe teens. The Avatar is an Airbender named Aang, a fun-loving twelve-year-old not quite ready to accept his destiny. Katara, a fourteen-year-old Waterbender, and Sokka, Katara's fifteen-year-old brother, are accompanying Aang on his journey to master all the elements. However the Fire Nation caught wind of the Avatar's return and are trying to capture him! Sixteen-year-old exiled Prince Zuko has his mind set on capturing Aang to regain his honor. With his wise but sometimes silly uncle, the retired General Iroh, they make two interesting bad guys--- they are not as evil as they first seem. However Aang still makes many other enemies--and friends-- along the way! Avatar has a gripping plotline, complex characters, smooth animation, and kid-friendly humor that makes the show lovable to all ages. But don't take my word for it-- check it out yourself! |

posted: Nov 03, 2005 Rated it: | KF Managing Editor | I am completely in love with this series. I can think of only a handful of cartoons in the last few years that have really captured my attention to this degree. It's smart, funny with good stories. The animation is sharp. The characters are great. The fighting sequences--VERY impressive. I agree with Toonboy that the fights seem to have their roots in martial arts moves. There's something about that that grounds this fantasy world just enough to make the fights seem perilous and genuinely exciting. Definitely snatching up the DVD when this one comes out. |
