I think this is trying to be the Jem of the animated ballet world. Its ideal for little girls but can get tedious for older girls and boys.

Angelina is a likeable charector but is to sweet for my liking come to think of it even the so called bully mice are nice in there own ways no spiteful Misfits here. The animation look like the pictures in the book so that migh be its one saving grace.

This is ok if you like ballet but other than that I would skip this and go watch something else

I have to admit there are several problems in my trying to review this series objectively. Basically it's hard for me to view it through the eyes of a 9 year old girl who loves ballet. I've tried to take that into account.

Angelina Ballerina is very, very Englsh, down to the watercolour (not color) and pastel backgrounds and characters, the old world feel, and - dare I say it - the hint of classism. But it could have been worse. At least it's not Angelina the Diesel Mechanic, who lives in Detroit, and wants to overthrow the patriachy and drive monster trucks. Actually, wait... that does sound better. Well never mind. It doesn't exist.

Angelina is based on a series of bestselling books which (surprisingly) I haven't read, so I don't know how faithful to the originals they are. The characters live in Mousetown. Angelina is beloved of another mouse named William, though she seems not to realise it and can be quite dismissive of him, especially when she's rushing off to ballet classes, which she's doing a lot. Her teacher is the (to me) irritatingly snobbish Miss Lily.

Angelina seems to be a little single-minded in her ambitions and intolerant of anyone getting in her way, though she's generally mild-mannered and reasonable otherwise.

There is a fairly large cast of supporting mice, a few of whom are rivals or nasty in some way, but most of whom (especially the adults) are pleasant to the point of tedium.

Still there is much to recommend the show. It is well made, has a distinctive look to it, is completely harmless, and does have a sort of old English charm. I'd give it two stars, but I suspect it deserves another half. I can imagine its target audience being completely engrossed by it. To me, it is a little on the ordinary side.

Still, it's perfect entertainment for girls circa 6-10. If they're into the books, you've got your babysitting problems sorted.

Not a bad show, overall, but I'm probably not the ideal person to ask, since the last TV show I watched was a football match.
