Hmmm...Let's see now...

An American Tail-...meh!
An American Tail: Fievel Goes West-...Incredible!

I first saw this movie with grandma and sister when I was a kid (oddly enough, on that same day, we also saw Beauty and the Beast-also incredible!)

I don't have anything against Don Bluth just because I prefer this movie over the first one; I think Don Bluth overexaggerates a little. Plus, he makes his characters too life-like and blush too much. The combined forces of Phil Nibbelink and Simon Wells had a simplistic, yet neat art style that reminded me of Chuck Jones and Charlie Thorson's Sniffles the Mouse.

The redesigns of the characters really wowed me; so did the voice-acting. The one character that really caught my eye was Sheriff Wylie Burp. James Stewart brought the character to life, and even more so, he got the last line in the film! His quote- "One man's sunset is another man's dawn" still makes me ponder as a young adult.

Two of my favorite scenes in this film were two of Tanya's singing scenes- the first one near the saloon and the second one in the saloon. And to think that pretty voice was from the voice-actress who would later voice Blossom on The Powerpuff Girls XD

Anywho, this is a good movie hands down. Try to rent it sometime. I liked it, yet I remember how my grandmother told me, "I wish that little mouse would've gotten run over by that train."- something tells me she didn't like it XD

Cheesy, and inferior to the original.

The hat which Feivel guarded so carefully in the first film, his heritage from his father and the link with his ancestors, is discarded in the first few seconds to be replaced with a white cowboy hat, and he starts swaggering around trying to act western. Oh, boy.

The plot of the film is as follows: A cat hears Feivel's sister's beautiful singing, and forces her to become his diva. Feivel decides to rescue her, involving dog sheriff Wylie Burp, to Tiger's horror.

There's lots of action and slapstick, but little actual humor or emotional appeal. Tiger is twice the annoying buffoon he was in American Tail.

I suppose I just liked the old Feivel better.

When the best joke in the entire movie is something about "catching a sagecoach"(groan), you know things are going to go downhill fast. Fievel Goes West is humorless, charmless, and features one of the most incompetent villains I've ever seen. Not to mention the "lazy eye" bit is just plain weird and drawn out to death. The original An American Tale is no classic but is still just a tad superior to this.

One word: Outstanding!

I didn't realize that this was a sequel either. The whole film is such a spectacular gem of a film that indeed, can stand by itself.

Fievel Goes West is, by far, one of the best sequels ever made. It follows the adventures of Fievel's mouse family as they shrive to make a living in America by traveling from the crowded city of New York to a small, dusty cowboy town way out West. Of course, Fievel is very curious so he gets separated along the way and discovers an evil plot that changes everything and gives him the opportunity to become a hero to all.

The characters were still very true to the original American Tail movie. I'm mainly glad that Tanya, the older sister of the family, finally gets a chance to shine in this film with her beautiful musical numbers. Not many of the major characters returned for this sequel, but at least Tiger, Fievel's large feline friend, gets a huge role with his comic performance and heroic role.

Everything else was just amazing. I was very impressed. This is a must-see! Too bad the two later sequels were so terrible (and also mentioned that this film was only a long dream. That saddened me a lot. Evil later sequels. *grr*). Stick with the first two films if you really want an awesome animation experience.

One of the few movies where the sequel is overall better than the first. In fact, when I first saw this film(being about 7), I didn't even realize it was a sequel until I watched the first one, remembering I had seen it when I was around 5. This proves that this movie stands well on it's own, with enough substance to be completely (if at all) unsupported by the original. It was a highly entertaining and enjoyable film to watch. The animation is fluid and well kept, and the backgrounds are wonderful. The characters are lively and likeable, but nothing classic or genuine. Just a fun film for the kids with a higher taste in the look and overall detail of animated movies, but still enjoy the energetic, cartoonish atmosphere.

This is one of those rare sequals that Unversal made that came to theaters and was actually worth seeing. Both are rarities. The animation was as good as the first, and the cast was also as good, if not better than, the first. The story was little bit like the first, since Fievel gets seperated from his parents, but there are some major differences too. The songs were not as annoying as in the first, at least some weren't. I think this is one of the rare sequals I actually liked better than the first movie. I'd recommend this film to anyone.

An American Tail was one of my favorite animated movies of all times, and I was expecting the same concept for the second one, when I first heard they were coming out with it. Fortunately, I wasn't dissapointed.

Some of the characters I liked in the first one returned in the second one, along with some new chars, but the one char that impressed me the most was Tanya, with her beautiful voice and her songs, which I fell in love with. Universal did a good job with her.

The animation was upgraded, but wasn't too spectatular. I did like the smoke effects, though.

Overall, the movie was a lot like I expected it would be. I still find myself watching it over and over.
