General Information Sites

  • The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) -- if you haven't heard of this site already, it's the largest entertainment movie database (live action/animated/movies/TV series/short films/video games/etc.) you're likely to find on the 'Net. Run by the people at Amazon.com, it consists primarily of credit information for movies as well as bio info on their cast/crew. An immense invaluable resource.
  • The Big Cartoon Database (BCDb) -- organized by animation studio, this database site features general credit info and some productions notes for 50,000+ animated films, TV series and short films.
  • Animated Features -- Has profiles for animated films released between 1998 and 2002. Worth checking out for the production notes and behind-the-scenes extras included in the profiles. [Currently Not Being Updated]
  • The Disney Database -- All the Disney magic in 1 site. Features profiles for both live action and animated Disney films.
  • SoundtrackNet -- Still growing, this site features profiles, production notes and multimedia for a variety of animated films. The Studio Ghibli films seems to be their most developed area.
  • Toonhound -- cartoon information, links, reviews, interviews and news from the UK.

  • Anime Café -- reviews anime films and series from a parents perspective--the anime is broken down as G, PG and M
  • Anime News Network -- offers news, reviews and profiles of anime film/TV releases

  • Animated Lust (Rated PG) -- huge site for people who really love their animated characters--no, not like that. Features character profiles, animation profiles, a forum and lots of fan contributions.
  • Clear Black Lines -- featuring shrines to a variety of animated movies including The Little Mermaid, Pochaontas, Thumbelina and The Swan Princess.
