Stare in awe, myFork finally saw this. What did I think? myFork see, and myFork like! Read on-
The basic, narrowed down plot is something we've all seen before: a little nobody gets sucked into a parallel dimension and becomes a hero to save family. But " Spirited Away" does more than that; it gives you a completely believable, vivid world for our heroine to explore. The places in this film are absolutely amazing, and the storytelling and the way every plot point twines and turns and finally integrates into the story is just about seamless.
The animation is pretty well the most incredible I've ever seen. Eye candy is very prominent in this movie, and the detail is simply put phenomonal.
The characters are slight letdown. While they are some of the most realistic I've seen in a movie, none of them are particularly memorable. ( heck, for about half the movie I didn't remember the kid's name- er, names. I kept forgetting, uh, Haku I think it was, and I don't remember hardly anyone else's name ) Needless to say, if you can forget the name " Sen", you know something is wrong. Haku, well, I personally like him ( wait... he's a guy? ) better in his dragon form, but that sequence when Chihi gave him his name was pretty cool. That aside, No Face has to be my favorite character. Go figure.
The score, while very simple, is lovely. Though I probably won't be spending twenty bucks on the soundtrack. ;)
In the end, " Spirited Away"'s super awesomeness is up, while Haku's masculinity is down. ^_^

Edit-
And the " Lady Points-Out-the-Obvious-elot" award goes to Sen for this bit of context here-
Sen: " Haku! You're bleeding!"
Me: " What was your first clue?"
