This is a definite leap upwards in motion capture technology. At the very least it's certainly prettier than Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within(may that dreck forever rest in animation limbo). When I first saw the trailers, I actually didn't realize that it was all computer generated. They've must shown the good bits. While many parts certainly look like they were acted by(somewhat shiny) humans, others look like what you'd find out of a video game. Darn those poor horses. However, what ultimately turned me off about this movie was its blatant glorification of hedonism and "nudge nudge" fan service. Neither expecting an accurate portrayal of the Dark Ages nor a romantic vision, I was still shocked by the lack of class shown by the characters and the swaggering bravado. I know things were bleak for the average warrior back then and even more so for the females, but the rather boring and stilted, and might I add unintentionally humorous, opening had me wondering "they couldn't have been ALL like that back then, could they?"
