I Can't Believe You Don't Have...

Well, since we have a shiny new forum, this would seem a good time to reintroduce the topic where you - the users - tell us what profiles are not on the site that you would like to have remedied.

Think of animation that no self-respecting animation database should be without, animation that you really want to write a review for, either a positive or the even-fun scathing ones... and post them here.

We can't promise to be able to pop them up immediately (as much as we really would love to be able), but we'll certainly direct our efforts toward stuff that people actually want to see on the site, for better or ill.

Animation Request List...

You can now scratch "Wolverine and the X-Men" from the list.

Will do, having mild server troubles with my site at present, so can't currently change anything, hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Actually, I had an idea about the request list... I thought it might be cool to integrate it into the site somehow. I mean, it's great that you've been keeping the list for us all this time, but I think it might offer us as editors encouragement to be able to see some progress in the list--like profiles that are crossed off link to the actual profile once they go up with "added by [editor]". Plus I think it would be good for the users to see that we are making our way through the list, albeit slowly.

I do think we would keep this thread though. I know some of the requests we get need some explanation in order to hunt them down. :)

Anyways, I'm in a work lull right now--hence all the Keyframe updates--maybe I'll mess around with this idea tomorrow.

Okay, the list has now been fully integrated into Keyframe and can be found here. Starlac, I hope you don't mind but I tweaked your original message just to avoid any potential confusion.

woot.

New ones to add~

First off, thanks so much for adding some new works to the site; I can't wait to review them!

Secondly, I like the new list of Soon-to-be-Added Animations. It's neat and easy for us, the requesters, to see what's already been asked for and what's on the way to being onsite.

Thirdly, I have a couple of animation gems that I believe should be up here for review:

TV Series: Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Kanon [2006 version - there's actually two versions, but the more recent one is better known], Air, Vandread, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha [and maybe its two sequel series? MGLN A's & MGLN Strikers]

Feature Films: Victini and the Black Hero/Victini and the White Hero [Pokemon the Movie: White - Victini and Zekrom/Pokemon the Movie: Black - Victini and Reshiram]

Thanks for reading!

I've got a regionless DVD of Madoka Magica.  It's not QUITE the holy grail of magical girl animes many are making it out to be, but it IS a refreshing change from the "twirl sparkle transform smile" shojo junk that is the norm.  It's basically Sailor Moon on acid, a story of girls with magic undergoing a Faustian journey.  So I guess it's more like "sparkle transform produce giant freaking gun and execute".

I think I'll get to work on that and watch the rest of the episodes when I get back on my hometime.

I'd also like to see Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes on the list.

Response to Toonboy~

Well, I honestly thought it was better than I expected. All I know is that it'll be difficult to write a review for it without giving too much away! Then again, I'm a fan of magical girl shows, and I'm surprised I got into PMMM so late... [a year late, to be exact]! There are flaws, but it could have been longer; maybe that's why they have so many spin-offs and the upcoming movies.

And yes, Toonboy - you need to watch it. I wouldn't compare it to Sailor Moon so much, as I never got a SM vibe from it at all. It's its own sort of series, and perhaps that's what helps it stand out.

Also, if Clannad and Clannad ~ After Story aren't on the list for TV series, I think they should be added to the list! Thanks!

Well, I've added the requests to the list.

I have to ask if Clannad ~ After Story is an entirely new series or just a name for 'series two' of a continuing narrative. I am always a bit dubious about adding season 2 of anything as a standalone entry just because the studio gave it a subtitle.

A complete remake from the ground up like 'Kanon' I can't see any problems with entering seperately from the original version.

Japan is notorious for naming seasons of their shows as something completely different from each other.  To this day, I don't know if the different Do Re Mi parts are separate series or just different seasons of the same show.  The second season of Code Geass is apparently called R2 and is even sometimes reviewed like it was a separate show.  I don't know anything about Clannad, so I wouldn't know.

Starlac: I know for Clannad ~ After Story, it's a continuation of the first series - its second season. I have yet to watch the series myself, but I've heard a lot of good things about the story. I will work on changing this~!

Kanon, on the other hand... I've only seen the 2006 version, and according to TV Tropes, it's got plenty of differences that separate it from its original version [story, character and art/animation-wise, from what I hear]. I'm not sure what exactly will be done with it, but since the 2002 version [animated by Toei Animation] is Japan only and the 2006 [animated by Kyoto Animation] is available outside of Japan, maybe the recent version is best for on here.

Of course, I'm sure that you'll make the right decision about things. You guys do a good job with profiles on here anyway, so I don't doubt your choices.

My DVD copy of Air arrived today and I've got a copy of Kanon on the way from the States. Going to watch the former tomorrow and add it to the site.

Also got the movie version of Air. It would appear that it is another of those same name/different take deals, like Kannon (same companies to), with Toei making the film and Tyoko Animation the series with no input from the other.

I'll watch the film after I've finish the series and add that to the site as well. Interested in how the two compare.

starlac: I'm looking forward to checking out Air myself - it looks really pretty and the story - although it seems rather like a typical harem anime... but then again, Kanon and Clannad are too, in a way - seems intriguing. I almost bought Air instead of Kanon, to be honest!

Can't wait to hear all about it!
