Isaac Hayes quits South Park over religious intolerance

South Park © Comedy CentralIsaac Hayes, who has been providing the voice of Chef on South Park since the show debuted in 1997, has quit the show citing its continued ridiculing of religion. Matt Stone, one of the show's co-creators, believes however it was the fact that a recent episode poked fun at Scientology that led to him quitting. Hayes is an outspoken follower of Scientology and Stone points out in a statement that the actor, "never had a problem with the show making fun of Christians, Muslims, Mormons or Jews." In the episode, Stan scores extremely well on a Scientology test and is hailed as a new saviour, much to the chagrin of Tom Cruise. You can read more on CBC Arts.
