The Buzz: March 2004

So how good is Home on the Range?

Well according to Aint-it-Cool-News, this is Disney's 2D department going out with a bang rather than a whimper. "The movie is actually good. It is. No really. I mean it." And the review emphasizes that this is a fun movie for both kids and adults. Check it out and make sure you check back here after the movie is released to tell us what you think.

Caught in the Web

Stumbled upon a great piece of web animation called The Exorcist in 30 Seconds (and re-enacted by bunnies) created by Jennifer Shiman. Absolutely hilarious.

Another of those hidden gems...

I stumbled upon this film, Luovo, on one of the message forums I read. I'll profile it soon but at the moment all I've been able to discover about it is that it's animated and Italian in origin. Nonetheless it has an interesting, rather painterly 3D style so be sure to check out the trailer.

And the Oscar Goes to...

LORD OF THE RINGS: RETURN OF THE KING!

Okay, not everything went to them but pretty darn close. The little fish story, Finding Nemo, took home the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film and the claymation film, Harvie Krumpet, received the Best Animated Short award.

Finding Nemo also had nominations for Best Sound Editing, Best Score and Best Original Screenplay. The Score and Sound Editing awards went to Lord of Rings and Best Original Screenplay went to Lost in Translation. Unfortunately Triplets of Belleville didn't take home anything as its other nomination for Best Song was also awarded to--you guessed it--Lord of the Rings.
