Happy Feet Wins Oscar for Best Animated Feature

Happy Feet © Kennedy Miller Productions / Village RoadshowPenguins trump over automobiles and ghosts and grab the sixth Oscar for best animated feature! Earlier on this year Cars won the Annie award for best movie, marking the first time that the two awards have disagreed on their choice for the title. Meanwhile, in the short film arena, the crown has been taken by the National Film Board of Canada's The Danish Poet.

As always, the animation community is voicing plenty of strong opinions on the subject - if you haven't already, now'd be a good time to sign up and post your reviews...

What's that? A Birthday, you say?

© KeyframeIt kinda snuck up on us this year, but eight years ago today was when Keyframe first went online. We've come a long, long way from those first 40 animation profiles. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank our dedicated group of volunteer editors for all their hard work. And, of course, I'd like to thank you, the user, from stopping by the site--it's your reviews and participation that make it all worthwhile.

In that spirit, I invite you to stop by our "I can't believe you don't have...?!" forum thread and post suggestions as to what animation you'd like to see added to Keyframe next. Also, I'd love to hear any other suggestions that you might have for things you'd like to see happen on the site in the future.

Ghostbusters III... Animated.

Ghostbusters © Columbia Pictures.Dan Aykroyd, during an interview with Mike McGuire on the radio station CISN Country, confirmed that Ghostbusters III is in production as a CGI film. The main reason given for the use of the CG medium, is that Bill Murray "will not" appear on a new live-action version anymore; but has agreed to lend his voice to his famous role as Dr. Peter Venkman in an animated version.
