The Buzz: December 2003
And the Plot Thickens...
Ever since Roy Disney's resignation--and now Stanley Gold's resignation--rumours have been flying fast and furious in the animation community across the net. Jim Hill Media has been tracking this story closely and has posted a number articles including Storming the Magic Kingdom: Version 2.0 which talks about how Pixar may become an essential piece of the powerstruggle and Are Roy and Stanley making a Rainbow Connection? which offers theories on how private discussions with the Jim Henson Company may figure into the game.

Pixar to bring back 2D?
With both Disney and Dreamworks saying that they will be making no more 2D feature films, declaring that audiences just aren't interested in traditional animation anymore, it may be Pixar is out to prove them wrong. Rumour is that they bought the animation desks Disney was selling off and that they may have hired Brad Bird on to head up their first 2D feature. Stranger things have happened--although not by much--and you can read the scoop on Ain't It Cool News.

Less Than Happy Times in the Magic Kingdom
As of yesterday (Sunday Nov.30), Roy Disney... nephew of Walt Disney, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Feature Animation Division... has resigned his position and, in a scathing three-page letter, called on Michael Eisner to do the same. If you're a follower of Disney or are interested in some of the nastier politics in the animation industry, be sure to check out the article on AWN.
