A bandaged Loopy De Loop recounts the story of Little Red Riding Hood, in his own words… with him as the good, noble wolf who tries to get back Red’s basket of cookies from those juvenile delinquents: the three little pigs and return them to their rightful owner, namely Grandma. Created by: Hanna-Barbera
Released: 1959
Language: English
Country of Origin: USA
Style: 2D animation
Featuring the voices of:
Directed by: Joseph Barbera and William Hanna
Of Interest: The first short starring Hanna-Barbera's only theatrical character Loopy De Loop: "Zee good wolf," whose attempts at good deeds were always misconstrued by others. When UPA ended their relationship with Columbia Pictures in 1959, it left the distributor without an animation studio: Hanna-Barbera stepped in with their Loopy De Loop series. The series would last until 1965, by which point Hanna-Barbera would focus entirely on their television outpoint. Interestingly, this cut-of date is around the same time that MGM and Warner Bros. entered into their near final run of "full animation" theatrical shorts before phrasing them out altogether, along with the start of DePatie-Freleng’s Pink Panther shorts (and others). These days, Loopy De Loop’s appearances both on television and elsewhere, have gone the way of many theatrical cartoons; becoming haphazard at best, but more usually non-existent. profile by: starlac |
