In the future, human's have devastated the Earth and many of the animals are gone or on the brink of extinction. Those humans that remain, divided into the aristocratic Nobles and the commoners who are little more than outlaws, believe there is hope yet. There is a legend that says that the wolves will lead them to Paradise. The problem is there aren't any wolves left.

It turns out that the remaining wolves have simply gone into hiding. They have developed skills to manipulate people's minds into thinking that they are humans. Four wolves, Kiba, Tsume, Hige and Toboe, walk within the cities of mankind but longing to be free of the humans. They hunt for Paradise and the humans, those who still believe in the wolves existence, they hunt the wolves.
