The creation of the nine episodes of The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends - budgeted at Ł750,000 apiece - were, unlike most television productions, made singularly over several years with TVC hiring various different production companies in order to get some of the shorts finished. Each episode is book-ended by a short live-action sequence with Niamh Cusack playing the role of Beatrix Potter.
