Somewhere in Antarctica, penguins are scuttling around looking for the most beautiful and impressive pebbles in the hopes that their betrothal pebble will win them a lovely mate. The shy penguin, Hubie, believes he has found the perfect pebble for his beloved Marina and he's just about plucked up the nerve to give it to her when the evil Drake knocks Hubie off the ice. Drake too has his eye on Marina and greatly prefers the idea of his competition--weak as it is--being swept out to sea. Hubie is picked up by a ship and caged along side a streetwise bird named Rocko. Together they escape, and Hubie convinces Rocko to help him find Antarctica.
