This short film by Yuri Norstein tells the story of two would-be lovers, Heron and Crane, whose pride and self-importance continually prevent them from accepting each other's proposals of marriage, despite their desire for each other.

Of Interest: Norstein's third film, even this seemingly innocent tale fell foul of the Soviet censors. Norstein's four-person crew invented a special piece of equipment which allowed them to animate on layers of glass, giving the film its distinctive appearance.
