As Christmas time draws near, a down on their luck family (led by Jimmy Durante) move into a new apartment, where Rupert the Squirrel lives in the attic. It seems there will be no joy this Christmas - not even a tree - but Rupert turns out to be the family's guardian angel in this musical holiday feature.

Originally black and white, the movie has recently been colourised. The colour version is known as 'A Chistmas Wish'. The one which is included in the George Pal 3 DVD boxed set is the original BW, though (check our merchandise links) Apparently, George Pal's stop motion 'puppetry' was so convincing in 1950 that the studio was approached by agents wanting to book the dancing squirrel. George Pal's first feature film.
