Once known as Battōsai the Manslayer, warrior/assassin Kenshin Himura has turned his back on bloodshed and wanders alone, wishing only to leave his past behind.
When a murderer uses Kenshin's discarded identity to terrorize a town and defame the Kamiya dojo, Kenshin comes to the aid of Kaoru Kamiya, gathers a few other friends and allies, and settles down to stay.
But even a peaceful man must fight when people are threatened. And though Kenshin may wish to forget his past, the shadow of Battōsai still hovers over him.
