When Professor Weatherby Groundhog issues a severe winter weather warning, all the birds pack up and head south; Well all the birds apart from Woody Woodpecker, who decides that he has enough food to live at home over the winter. However a tornado steals his food, leaving Woody literately staring at the embodiment of starvation; at least until a hungry cat arrives and the two start trying to cook the other.

Since this short's copyright was not renewed before it expired in 1966, this has become the only Woody Woodpecker short in the public domain and so appears on many PD compilations with varying degrees of quality.

The last Woody Woodpecker short to have Mel Blanc as the voice of Woody. Mel Blanc signed his exclusive contract with Warner Bros. just after recording this short's dialogue.
