After the apocolyptic Second Impact, the earth has been changed forever. Powerful creatures called Angels assault the people almost constantly. To combat them, the group called NERV have created living robots called Evas, which are the only weapons that can penetrate the Angels' force fields. Unfortunately, the only ones who can pilot the Evas are young teens who were born after the Second Impact.
