Filmmaker Genya Tachibana and his cameraman Kyoji Ida journey to interview the legendary, reclusive actress Chiyoko Fujiwara in her mountain villa. Genya has also come to return a key belonging to Chiyoko which he found many years ago. She is very gratified to see it and explains it is "the key to everything." She tells them the tale of her life and the tale spins wide, and becomes interwoven with all the movies she has ever made. It is the story of one woman who is willing to do anything to find that one great lost love.
