Of Interest: Liza Minnelli provided the voice of Dorothy, reprising the role originally played by her mother Judy Garland. The film suffered various delays. The voice parts and music were recorded in 1964, but it was several more years before the producers could afford the animation. It was eventually released in the UK and Australia in 1972, but not until 1974 in the USA. Writer Fred Ladd was also largely responsible for writing the english language versions of the first three anime series, 'Astro Boy', 'Kimba the White Lion', and 'Gigantor'.
