Ginga: Nagareboshi gin

Gin is a silver, tiger striped Akita, third in the bloodline of powerful bear-dogs. Fearless and intelligent, he is chosen by and subjected to the brutal training of local bear-hunter Gohei Takeda, who trained Gin' father and his father before him. Soon, on a hunt for Akakabuto, the monstrous half-mad bear of the forest, Gin witnesses a fight between the mighty ursine and his own father Riki and sets out to find him.
