The year is 2065 and Earth is a wasteland, almost utterly destroyed by an invasion of phantom-like aliens. Those few humans that survived the initial invasion live in tightly shielded cities that guard against the alien "ghosts" that still run freely outside--sucking the spirits from living things and killing anything they touch. Humanity's weapons have been useless against the aliens thus far but as General Hein works on his massive cannon to blow the infestation off the face of the planet, the beautiful and brilliant Dr. Aki Ross, and her mentor, Dr. Sid are pursuing a more peaceful solution. With the help of the Deep Eyes military squadron, led by Aki's old friend Grey, she and Dr. Sid must work against time to find the eight spirits that will rid Earth of the aliens--before General Hein's efforts destroy them all.
