Ace hart is a German Shepherd Private Eye, in the traditional gumshoe mold. Working alone, or in an uneasy alliance with Police Chief Rosie O'Gravy, he tackles the underworld of Dog City in case after case. There is a twist, though. He is also the creation of animator Eliot Shag (a muppet German Shepherd animator), who takes the events in his own life as inspiration for Ace's adventures. Though the show is predominantly 2D animation it does have 'live' muppet sequences, sometimes involving Eliot interacting with Ace via his storyboards.

Alternate Title: Jim Henson's Dog City
Style: 2D animation
Number of Episodes: 31

Of Interest: The series was loosely based on the 'Dog City' special from 'The Jim Henson Hour'. Do not confuse the TV series with the recent DVD release 'Dog City The Movie'. To the best of my knowledge there were two 2-episode VHS tapes of 'Dog City' released in the US (still available through Amazon), and one three-episode tape ('Disobedience School') released in the UK. The UK tape has different episodes than the US ones.
