After an accident destroys the chryogenic tube that sustained the life of Mr. Freeze's desperately ill wife, Freeze will stop at nothing to save her. When he discovers that Barbara (Batgirl) Gordon shares the same rare blood type as his wife, Freeze kidnaps her leaving Batman and Robin in a race against time to find Batgirl before she becomes a 'live' organ donor.
