After Lord Guinness of the Reform Club mentions an article in the newspaper detailing how it is possible travel around the world in 80 days and suggests that he would take on the challenge if he were younger, he gets laughed at. Willy Fog tries to defend Guiness' honor and accepts a wager of 20,000 british pounds that he can circumnavigate the globe and return to the Reform Club at precisely 8:45 pm on December 21, 1872. But things won't be so easy for Willy Fog. Hot on his heels are Inspector Dix and Constable Bully, who are convinced that Willy Fog is the culprit in the recent robbery of the Bank of England, and Transfer, a hired hit man for Mr. Sullivan of the Reform Club.
