Charlie Brown is finding the constant failures that his life seemingly amounts to getting him down, especially when Lucy projects them onto a screen during a psychiatric session; so when Linus suggests that Charlie volunteer for the school’s annual spelling bee competition, he decides to do so to prove that he's not a complete loser. Charlie wins the class and then the all school spelling bee, earning the respect of his classmates. Lucy, his newly self-appointed manager, tells Charlie that it’s not all over, as he will be heading to the national championships in New York. Reluctantly, Charlie concedes and with Linus’ blanket for good luck, boards the bus for New York; shortly followed by Snoopy and Linus, who wants his blanket back.
